Wednesday night we had our night on the town and went to see the Portland Seadogs play. It was great fun. Especially watching Kate, Sara and Emma do the motions to the Village People's "Y.M.C.A" I told them I wouldn't talk about in the blog but, you know me! The next day we had VBS which included an impromptu play. The story was The Good Samaritan. Stephen Quinlan played the part of the poor man who was beaten and robbed. I wish you all could have seen his performance. The kid has never had an acting class one day in his life and, yet, his performance was Oscar worthy. On that same day Matthew came in time to finish out our VBS with us. It also happened to be his birthday. He taught the kids some song and dance routines (would that I had a video camera) and they all had a great time singing, dancing, rejoicing in the Lord and just being kids. It also happened to be Matthew's birthday so we presented him with a cake, sang happy birthday and sat down to cake and ice-cream. I believe that was the highlight of the root cellar kids day. On Friday Kathy and Lynne helped set up and distribute food for their Food Distribution Day. They were both amazed at the quality (all fresh) of the food and definitely amazed at the quantity. Peggy approached me at one point and said, "It isn't it great how God provides just enough food for us to give to the people in this neighborhood?" I couldn't have agreed more. While that was going on, Levi, was upstairs in the teen center with the rest of the team. They were busy playing pool, cards and video games. Their presence assured that all went well but it also meant that they could relaxe and enjoy themselves too. When it was over at 1:00pm, we departed. It is good to be home.
